Building N13 at the Olympic Village site in East London is a collection of 4 apartment blocks designed by internationally renowned architects CF Moller. From the outset the architectural concept was to provide a high quality façade which was extremely durable, offer low maintenance and yet retain it’s supplied appearance as long as practical.

Working in partnership, Uxbridge based  Galliford Try Construction  and GRCUK submitted a successful tender bid which involved working with the architects to develop a practical installation system.  Construction began in early 2010 and over the following 18 months some 5,500 elements were manufactured and delivered . These included “eyebrow” heads, projecting jambs and deep section spandrels all manufactured in Premix Process GRC. These were complemented by large vertical mullion and infill jamb sections along with impressive entrance canopies, all produced in Spray Process GRC.

Despite the large number of items and to the credit of all participants, every piece fitted exactly as intended and was installed without any damage.

Due to marketing restrictions no photos of the finished works could not be taken until well after the games had finished. As a result those displayed show GRC which is 3 years old and yet still looking as crisp and clean as the day they were packed and shipped from our Sheffield works.
