Constructed in the early 20th century Mount Pleasant in the Clerkenwell area of replica christian dior watches North London was said to be “the largest sorting office in the world”.

As part of a complete redevelopment of the vast site to meet the needs of today’s society this historic and landmark building will be totally refurbished. Part of this refurbishment is to remove glass curtain walling from the loading bays on Phoenix Place and replace this with large format GRC panels. Below the existing brickwork façade which features the entrance to the Royal Mail Heritage Centre will also be re-clad in a Portland stone GRC cladding system.

GRCUK were first approached by leading architects Terry Farrell Associates to discuss the practicalities and possibilities of the use of GRC in this application. A unique solution was developed by GRCUK to use existing steel columns as the receiving structure for large format stud frame panels.

Design and engineering development will be carried out over the next two months allowing installation works to commence in January by the GRCUK install team.
